Formed in 1969, the Nelson and District Arts Council (NDAC) supports and promotes artistic and cultural vibrancy in Nelson and surrounding areas. Led by a passionate team and dedicated volunteers, NDAC creates opportunities for artists, strengthens the creative community, and fosters cultural vitality.

Kootenay.design crafted a dynamic new website for NDAC, featuring a searchable mural directory that highlights Nelson’s vibrant public art and the talented artists behind it. User-friendly forms for newsletters and applications streamline engagement, while SEO optimization boosts visibility, drawing more visitors to NDAC’s rich cultural offerings. An auto-updating Privacy Policy ensures compliance and builds trust.

Our team refined every detail for a seamless user experience, with stunning visuals and engaging content that captures NDAC’s creative spirit.

Colour Palette

This colour palette was created to represent data accurately and ensure readability for those with colourblindness. Additionally, they are designed to print beautifully in grayscale while maintaining their visual appeal and functional purpose.

Their effectiveness lies in their ability to offer four distinct and visually pleasing colour combinations that cater to various types of colour vision deficiencies, allowing for clear differentiation even among individuals with different forms of colourblindness.

We love working with talented local designers to bring our web designs to life. The graphic designer who put together this colour palette was Lev Sonego, founder of the Nelson-based company, Glitterburns.

Responsive Design

Your customers are browsing on phones, tablets, and desktops—your website needs to work perfectly on all of them. With over 60% of website traffic coming from mobile devices, a mobile-friendly site isn’t just a bonus—it’s essential.

Google prioritizes responsive sites in search rankings, and a slow or difficult-to-navigate site can send potential customers elsewhere.

That’s why every website we build is fully responsive, ensuring a fast, seamless experience on any screen size.

Whether visitors are on a smartphone, tablet, or desktop, your site will be easy to navigate, read, and engage with—helping you keep customers on your site and ready to take action.
